The
NISJ was founded in 2003 to raise awareness
of pressing social issues facing Navajo
people living in the U.S. Our programs
endeavor to empower Navajo to confront
the problems of poverty, illiteracy,
and discrimination within their society,
and to preserve and share the beauty
of their culture.
Our
goals include:
To promote
social, economic, and educational justice for
the Navajo People
To change the conditions
which foster alienation, delinquency and despair
in Navajo children
and youth
To foster economic
independence for the Navajo people
To promote technology
and scholarship in Navajo children
To recognize outstanding
civil rights leadership in the area of the Navajo
Nation
To train Navajo youth
and adults in leadership
To promote and preserve
the Navajo culture and language
To
uplift the bodies, hearts, minds, and spirits
of the Navajo People
