Tradition
 
To provide recognition of “great spirits” in Navajo school children:
   
Activity 1: Raise funds for annual awards banquet to recognize “great spirits” in Navajo children on all grade levels;
Activity 2: To present annual awards and financial gifts to Navajo children who demonstrate particular courage, leadership, and ability in pursuit of educational success and equity;
Activity3: Offer scholarships, seminars, and specialized training to recognized youth;
Activity 4: Establish a Navajo Youth Leader of the Year award and promote it in all Navajo communities;
Activity 5: Host an annual essay contest on issues of critical importance to Navajo youth and their lives.

To promote “I am Proud to be a Navajo” campaigns throughout the Navajo Nation:
   
Activity 1: Promote an essay contest on the theme: “I am Proud to be A Navajo;”
Activity 2: Create a poster page in The Navajo Times which can be laminated and posted in every home and classroom with pictures of the theme, ”I am proud to be a Navajo;”
Activity 3: Promote the “I am Proud to be a Navajo though bumper stickers, pins, pencils, t-shirts, etc.;
Activity 4: Raise funds and erect billboards at principal entry points to Navajo border communities on “I am Proud to be a Navajo;”
Activity 5: Host an annual conference on the theme “I am Proud to be a Navajo.”

To promote and preserve the Navajo culture and language:
   
Activity 1: Sponsor Navajo reading contests on the Navajo Nation;
Activity 2: Sponsor an annual conference on Navajo culture and, language, and tradition;
Activity 3: Sponsor an annual award to the one person who does the most to promote Navajo culture, language, and tradition during the year;
Activity 4: Host an annual essay contest on the “I am proud of the Navajo history, culture, language, and traditions” theme;
Activity 5: Promote Navajo storytelling, cultural activities, language, and traditions in a summer camp program for Navajo youth.

TO UPLIFT THE BODIES, HEARTS, MINDS, AND SPIRITS OF THE NAVAJO PEOPLE:
   
Activity 1: Self-publish essay books by Navajo youth, Elders, and Medicine People and promote them to raise money for the Institute and increase pride in Navajo writing;
Activity 2: Positively promote the Navajo People in the media to the maximum extent possible;
Activity 3: Create links between communities, individuals, churches, clubs, across the nation with the Navajo;
Activity 4: Publish a summer schedule of all Navajo activities: Dances, events, rodeos, summer camps, church camps, recreational activities, youth employment activities, along with phone numbers, etc.
Activity 5: Have a Navajo Family of the Week feature in The Navajo Times, with a picture of the entire Navajo clan, or family together in photo and a brief story about the family.
